Life External
Qucik update on what I've been doing. A couple of weeks ago I gave a hand on the Sci-fi London 48hr film 'Life External'. Here's a link to the fantastic film -

I only did a tiny piece (comping the delivery message at the begining,) but I'm very happy to have been part of such a great short with a fantastic crew, the film has just made the top 20 so fingers crossed for the short list!

Some Gallery Work
So on the run up to Christmas last year I had the opportunity to put a couple of pieces into the 9X9 exhibition run by the Jack Tierney Gallery in Cults (Aberdeen)
http://www.jacktierneygallery.com/exhibitions/9x9/
I decided to take a break from digital work and have a play with some traditional methods, I really wanted to use the wood as an extra texture to the pyrography. I think it worked really well with the Kingfisher. I had some issues with the fish because when i tried to varnish it it created some very dodgy oily stains due to the woods uneveness. So I had to paint over those stains to rescue it. Still it was an interesting experience and I loved being able to get the detail into the pieces!

Oliver!
Quick update on what I've been doing. So although blog updates have been thin on the ground I've been pretty busy with a new show-reel and some painting commissions, portraits and a series of Ocean landscapes for a website (they will be uploaded once completed and OK'd).
I was recently asked whether I was going to do another portrait piece from Oliver! (1968), of Mark Lester (who played the title character), for a show called 'Consider Yourself at Home' as art work for the poster to accompany it. I had previously done a painting of Ron Moody (Fagin) so the idea was to have the two together. These painting will be the basis for the poster with more updated photos of the actors as well as the title. So I've finished up the Oliver piece and done some retouching of the Fagin one, (which I'll upload next!) Here's a link to the site, with a basic poster-set up.

I'll update when the poster's been finalised.

The Monster
Tried a quick watercolour of Bertie, not especially happy with the outcome but it sort of captures him. My excuse is that I haven't practised watercolour in a long time!

Barbossa
'I'm disinclined to acquiesce to your request'
So in-between a couple of commissions and finishing my reel I've managed to get another wee bit of portrait practise in, also any excuse to watch Pirates of the Caribbean really!!!
