Here's a watercolour painting of the sculpture of Samson killing a Philistine in the V & A, I had a quick sketch already from a couple of weeks ago so decided to re-visit it today to take a break fromt the laptop.

Painting Dreams

Crazy dreams make good subjects for paintings!!!
A while ago I had this weird dream where I was standing int the middle of a busy city ringed by skyscrapers, as I was looking at them they began to explode one by one, in a domino effect, and some turned into trees and rocks, others bushes etc and a few turned into waterfalls, it was all a bit surreal really but the image stuck in my head so I decided to paint it!
This time round I decided to try my hand at a matte painting, below you'll see the photos I used for a quick mock-up and my base for the painting, then the final image. I'm quite pleased with the final outcome and i might even try to paint some more of the dream!!

another concept for leap year

So here's another wee piece for Sarah Dargie im not 100% happy with it at the mo, mainly the wall before the city but im not feeling it right now, so i will probably come back to it in a few weeks. So if anyone has any strokes of genius about it please drop a comment!

Hello, here's a quick painting inspired by...well drinking too much caffeine probably! Just meant ot be a bit of fun, i might try to continue this steam turning into stuff theme, but not sure yet, so keep an eye on future updates! Concept based on Japan in the fall

Heyho, here's another piece iv'e been working on, i originally had it a lot smaller only around half the size and with two cherry blossom trees in the middle but i couldn't get it to work so iv'e re-jigged it to this, opinions would be greatly appreciated as i like it but wonder if i need to re-put something in the middle island?
This started as a concept for Sarah Dargie's 'Leap Year' but it's turned more into a personal piece but credit goes to her for the original idea!

An End to Autumn

Here's a quick painting inspired by the season and some new brushes I got!
It took about 2 hours and is just meant to be a bit of fun as when I went for a walk today I loved how all the leaves are in the gorgeous late stage of turning. Also it was a fab excuse to try out some liquid brushes i found, i'm quite pleased with the overall effect.
